If any of you have ever lived in Houston, you know Jim McIngvale, better known as Mattress Mack. He owns Gallery Furniture, and is famous for hawking his furniture in commercials starring himself. Well, according to the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , Mack promised that if the Seahawks won the Super Bowl, he would give a full refund to anybody who bought more than $6000 in furniture, about 1000 customers. The Broncos lost, so that means about $7 million for people to stuff in their new mattresses. Don't cry too much for Mack though. That $7m only counts for about 6% of his annual sales, and he sees it as good PR. I guess for a few customers, Gallery Furniture really will , save, you, money.

Damn, it made it to the BBC, worth evey penny if you ask me. I remember going to Gallery Furniture back when it was a sorta flimsy walled place right on the access road. When it rained outside it also rained inside lol. Now it's a huge place, stadium lights and all lol

Say what you will, Mack is a wildly successful businessman. He was a lot younger when I was in Houston, would have been about '89-92.

Heard this on the radio this morning, maybe he'll stop making big deals like this without insurance underwriting.

I doubt it. He's the consummate showman, and sees this as nothing more than an advertising expense.
